Job Description

Summary

Join our team on CISS and provide your support as an Environmental Clerk located on-site in Huntsville, AL. The Environmental Clerk’s responsibility is to ensure that the location is compliant with all Federal, State and DOD Environmental laws, statutes, regulations, policies, and executive orders. The FBI requires on site Contractor services to assist various locations with achieving the following objectives:


Responsibilities

  • Collect recyclable materials from FBI spaces, manage the placement of collection containers, track inventory and schedule recycling removal as necessary.
  • Inspect above ground POL storage tanks daily, weekly, and monthly as Maintain checklists of these inspections per the applicable regulations.
  • Assist initial emergency response for spills, leaks or releases of chemical and petroleum products or Inspect and maintain spill kits and maintain a spill supply inventory for the Facility.
  • As assigned, inspect areas of the Facility for compliance with environmental regulations, such as construction project compliance with erosion and sediment control or stormwater outfalls, Hazardous Waste Satellite Accumulation Areas and < 90-day storage facilities.
  • Manage new container and supply inventories as necessary to meet the Facilities Hazardous Waste generation and management responsibilities.
  • Manage hazardous material inventories and the associated Safety Data Sheet program for all tenants.
  • Collect, manage, package, and recycle mercury containing lamps/ fluorescent lamps in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) 40 CFR 261 et seq. and the requisite state Department of Environmental Management hazardous waste regulations. Inspect and ensure that the FBI lamp crusher is maintained in compliance with Alabama Department of Environmental Management regulations.
  • Collect, manage, package, and recycle all types of batteries in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) 40 CFR 261 et seq. and the state Department of Environmental Management hazardous waste This includes properly dating, labeling, and inspecting battery collection locations throughout the FBI Facility. Collect, manage, package, and recycle or dispose of aerosol cans in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) 40 CFR 261 et seq. and the State Department of Environmental Management hazardous waste regulations.
  • Maintain databases for Recyclable materials, Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Wastes for FBI facilities and construction activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Forklift trained and certified.
  • Active TS clearance required.
  • A minimum of one-year of related experience.
  • US DOT Hazardous Material Transportation
  • HAZWOPER forty hour trained as required in 29 CFR 120 to handle spills and management of hazardous waste and annual refresher preferred.
  • Trained to meet RCRA 40 CFR 16 requirements for large quantity generators.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be in good physical condition to regularly lift 50-pound containers, load trucks during waste collection, roll 55-gallon drums and handle then using a drum cart, pallet jack or forklift.
